New Peavey amp day...

Hello guys,

I just picked up a really clean ValveKing 100 head. I have gone through it and cleaned it, cleaned the jacks and tube sockets, and checked out the bias/plate voltage. It is oddly biased closer to 70% dissipation than I thought a Peavey would be. Anyway, a little picture for your enjoyment.

cool, i got one myself not too long ago, but mine mysteriously has a yellow grill on the front that i haven't seen on any other ones. definitely a good amp for the money, though.

Thanks for the good word ILE. Great username. Very positive.

I think it is a great amp for the money also. I am spinning some tube magic on it as we speak.

Yep, I was skeptical about getting my rig, but I'm glad I got it. The valve king is very versitile. I have the thing cranked barely to 2 and it's loud as hell.

I also find it versatile CF. It has the a-a/b operation knob and the presence/resonance knobs allow me to tune the sound even more. The front-mounted effects loop is different.

I am not going to go crazy with it, just enjoy it as it is, with some tube changes that is.

I thougnt about changing the tubes, but my band is begging me not too. They say it has the sound the band needs. I personally think it needs a more ballsy sound to it, but I guess whatever works I should go by their instinct. The clean channel however could use a little more options with it. The one time I think of investing in a new pedal is for only the clean channel, but I think the amp is great and the distortion on it is outstanding for the price.
