New Pedal Build day!

Re: New Pedal Build day!

I would definitely spring for a metal box in the near future. Small Bear Electronics has really cool painted ones, and a cheap Harbor Freight step bit set would make drilling the holes super easy. An auto-punch would make centering the drill easier as well.

Agreed. Plastic enclosures are fine for consumer electronics, but this is a pro music unit that gets stepped on.

Re: New Pedal Build day!

Easiest way to do this is to make sure the rings of the jacks make solid contact with the shield. No need for an extra wire. That's basically how shielding with a metal enclosure works.
Or at the pots....lotsa static can work its way into it, same at the switch.

And yeah, get a metal box:)
Boxes ain't hard to drill.

right on. that makes my life easier.

I will upgrade to a metal box eventually.

Re: New Pedal Build day!

@Convoy, that turned out nice.

Have you ever made your own PCB's?

Re: New Pedal Build day!

No I haven't...I'm still kinda new to this whole process. This is only my 2nd pedal build that made it to the enclosure stage.

The first ever pedal was an EHX LPB circuit, which I fooled around with but never bothered putting it on a perfboard or pcb. Then I made a fuzz face clone which is just way over the top and totally nasty...almost unusable. but it's in an enclosure and I whip it out every once in a while for a little retarded fun.

This one I wanted to stay relatively faithful to the orig. circuit.
