New pedal(s) day -- MOOER EFFECTS CONTENT

TwilightOdyssey

Darkness on the edge of Tone
I picked up two wee little effects pedals today to keep in my gig bag for writing sessions and rehearsals, both by Mooer Effects:

- Ensemble Chorus
- ReEcho echo pedal

Sonically, they are fine. Here is what they sound like in the mix:

Guitars are my Warmoth 'super tele' w Bare Knuckle VHII and Trilogy Suite in Nashville Tuning and my Agile AL-2800 w Bare Knuckle Riff Raff and Stormy Monday.
Amp is the EAST Studio 2, V30, mic'd with a Sennheiser e609.
Mic preamp is Focusrite.
Boost for the lead part at the end is an Analog Man Beano boost.
Bass guitar is a mid-60s Silver tone into a SansAmp Bass Driver and Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone.
Piano is Cubase Halicon Synth
Drums are Drumkit From Hell VST

I really dig these Mooers. I'm debating a couple to pick up from pedaltrader.com. It's down to the Green Mile (Tubescreamer), Black Secret (Rat) or Hustle Drive (OCD).

I like how that Echo sounds, if I didn't have a Carbon Copy, I'd be considering either the ReEcho or the AnaEcho.

Re: New pedal(s) day -- MOOER EFFECTS CONTENT

I've seen these pedals mentioned alot over the last few months but have never tried 1.

I'll listen to your clip later and see what I think :)

Clip sounds great! Nice playing too..

I've got the Mooer Pitch Box & Ana-echo & they're both awesome sounding pedals... (not just for the money).

I've got the Shimverb and the Eleclady, with a Triangle Fuzz on the way. So far they seem very well made, sound good and excellent value. Difficult to knock anything about them so far.

How do you like the ElecLady? I've been mulling adding a flanger, and that's #1 on my list.

I like it. Whilst flange isn't an effect I use a lot, it seems to work well. It seems to compare well to the Boss BF-3 which I also have. There's a little hiss when you turn it on, but is completely unnoticeable once you start to play. Have a look on YT, there are a couple of good videos there, one by Mooer themselves, and one (I think) by PrymaxeVintage. I like the thing and you just can't fault the price.

I'm in the same boat. I don't think I'd use it often, maybe once or twice in a 2-3 hour set. The small size and the decent price make it by far the most attractive option for me.

Re: New pedal(s) day -- MOOER EFFECTS CONTENT

Hey TwilightOdyssey, I'm looking for a delay to kick on for extended lead sections. I want one that doesn't change the gain at all up or down, just adds the delay. Do you think the Reecho would fit the bill? I' ve tried a few (EH and Dano) that change the lead tone too much. Thanks for any input you can give me on the Mooer.

The triangle fuzz was the first one I got. Sounds great with thinner sounding single coils, but doesn't clean up all that well when you turn the volume down like some Fuzz pedals. I have the Reecho and hardly ever use it, I would prefer to have more control of the number of repeats. I had the Trelicopter, but sold that a while ago. It did the slower swells pretty well but I was looking for something that could do a much harsher, almost gated sounding tremolo. I wouldn't mind trying out a Hustle drive, I like mid gain pedals.

I can make a clip for you.

Re: New pedal(s) day -- MOOER EFFECTS CONTENT

Super cool clip bro!!

As for Mooer, I picked up a flex boost from them 6wks ago or so. Supposedly a rip o fthe Xotic AC boost? no clue as I have never heard one in person, but the Mooer works and sounds great as a clean boost, or you can tweak the EQ to alter the tone quite a bit. Its does everything from subtle to a punch in the gunch.:bigthumb:

Re: New pedal(s) day -- MOOER EFFECTS CONTENT

I love the tiny enclosures. I'm assuming that every Mooer is a clone of a more famous pedal, right? Some of them are pretty obvious (Green Mile, Blues Mood, ElecLady), while others are not (wtf is a "Blues Crab"?)

I also love the Engrish descriptions on their website: "very small and exquisite"

Re: New pedal(s) day -- MOOER EFFECTS CONTENT

I think I read somewhere that the Blues Crab is a Bluesbreaker clone (thought that might have been the Blues Mood). I assume one is a Bluesbreaker, and one is a BD-2.

Based solely on the paint job, I'd say the Blues Mood is the Boss BD-2.

If the Blues Crap ... er, Crab is indeed a BluesBreaker clone, that's pretty sweet.

I need to open a local shop that sells Mooer and Joyo pedals...

One of my favorite "local" shops (it's 3 hours away, but that's local where I live) carries Mooer, but I sadly did not try any of them out last time I was there.

Re: New pedal(s) day -- MOOER EFFECTS CONTENT

TwilightOdyssey, that would be great if you'd do another clip. Doing a lead line or two with a classic rock tone, delay on and off within the solo. Do you think it changes your tone any when engaged?

I will do it this weekend. :)

Got to play with the pedals in anger last night, and the echo does not affect your dry tone, but it DOES sound different from it.
