Re: New pedals that excite you
I went on a pedal kick this year - I don't have anything that I had ten months ago. I've been able to acquire some amazing pedals. I absolutely love what Strymon's doing. I have their El Capistan, I'll be getting a Blue Sky soon, and I've played around with the Timeline. Just fantastic stuff.
I also have a love affair with Basic Audio. John Lyons makes some INCREDIBLE fuzz pedals. I've got his Foxey Lady (Foxey Lady clone with an added mids knob) and his Scarab Deluxe (SI tonebender MKIII clone with a fat knob and external bias control). Both of these pedals are nothing short of works of sonic art - and they look great inside and out too.
The last of my favorite brands is Diamond. I have the Memory Lane Jr, and it's just an incredible delay pedal. It gets me all the analog tones I crave with digital functionality - footswitchable modulation, tap tempo, and tap divide. I love it, and would not hesitate to sample any of Diamond's other offerings.
I love all of my pedals, but these are the brands that stand out the most to me as having incredible quality across the board. I'd like to throw out a special mention to Drybell. While they only have one pedal currently - the Vibe Machine - it's an amazing piece of technology. They managed to fit the classic Univibe into an MXR sized pedal, with all of the features of the original. They even managed to add a few. At $325 shipped from Croatia, it's not cheap, but it's worth every penny.
