Picked up a Texas Hot Antiquity bridge pickup to go in my Strat! I've got a 96 Jimmie Vaughan Strat. I've had the stock Tex-Mex pickups in it forever. I've always liked the neck and middle, but the bridge was always just way too weak. I tried playing with the heights, string gauge, everything, so I finally broke down and got a new pick up.
It's absolutely fantastic. It's definitely much hotter, and it's much thicker sounding than the stock Tex Mex bridge pickup. It actually pairs quite nicely with the other pickups. They're definitely more polite, but I really like that. I've kept all the funk tones I love from my Strat and gained a fantastic bluesy-lead tone!
