New pickguard day: Jazz strat

Clint 55

OH THE DOUBLE THICK GLAZE!
Yeo, I made a new pickguard for my only good guitar, my hardtail Warmoth strat with alder body, maple and rosewood neck. It's an A2P with linear 250k volume with 150pf treble bleed, and audio 250k no load tone with 18nf pio cap.

Here's a demo of Scrapple from the Apple. I just did tone on 10 since the dark tone didn't come out as well thru the recording.

Re: New pickguard day: Jazz strat

Very nice neck jazzy tone.

I noticed you’re using trial video software- how about using Da Vinci Resolve? It’s free.

Honestly it’s a bold move to go single neck humbucker in a guitar. Are you just a jazz-only player then?

Re: New pickguard day: Jazz strat

Hey thx, and thx for the software suggestion. I have other crappy multi pickup guitars and I also have 2 super dialed pickguards for this nice Warmoth: an sss and an hsh with a phat cat in the middle. I'll probably get new Warmoth strats for my 2 dialed pickguards and try new woods. I made this pickguard cuz I just felt like trying something new for a cheap investment. And jazz is a big part of my playing so thought I'd make a jazz pickguard and have it inspire me.

Very nice. I have a neck only Tele I love that I only use for jazz.

Cool, let's have a look at her.

MIM neck, northern ash body, SD A2 59 (from my Charvel), three way with Eldred Esquire wiring, cap is 0.005, 12 TI flatwounds.

I like to think of it as my Bizarro Esquire lol

Re: New pickguard day: Jazz strat

Ok so a 5nf cap for the tone all the way off position? Do you have another cap for the volume and tone on position? How is the straight to jack position?

This reminds me of something Satan would give me in a Faustian swap for my soul: "Shiny new Esquire? Hope you want a NECK HUMBUCKER ONLY!!!! HAHAHA :firedevil:firedevil:firedevil "

"AHHHHHhhhHHHhh!!!"

(By no means do I mind you playing & liking it. It's just pretty amazing how disparate taste can be.)

Sorry it’s actually the modded eldred wiring. https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/The_Modded_Eldred_Esquire_Wiring

With a 0.005 connected to tone instead of the 0.047.

I like the straight to jack mode, I’m sure without flatwounds it would be nasty. It’s for those few times when I would usually switch to a bridge pickup.

To be clear, I play the middle position 95% of the time. I just can’t help myself with the wiring :)

LOL

That’s why I call it a Bizarro Esquire.

Maybe when shredders get to hell they can choose between Clint’s strat or my Esquire [emoji4]

These are guitars that I could play for a long time.

Re: New pickguard day: Jazz strat

I'm back into jazz mofos and lovin life with my jazz strat. I thought the pickguard would be a novelty and I'd swap it out in a month or so, but it's stayin in! I don't know why I didn't do this sooner. I ain't need no hollow body. This is the most perfect jazz guitar tone for me!

Congrats. May that feeling last forever so that you don’t have to mortgage your house for an L5 [emoji4]

Btw, you have flatwounds?

Re: New pickguard day: Jazz strat

Haha thx. No, I'm using roundwounds. Custom 10-52s in D standard.

Re: New pickguard day: Jazz strat

Wow, I thought you did from the demo. I now always use flatwounds for jazz because I like the feel and sound profile but from your sound you probably don’t need it. :)

Re: New pickguard day: Jazz strat

Yea! I like the brilliance from roundwounds better. I was agonizing over how to get fat jazzy tone in standard tuning. 11s or 12s were too tight. Bit the bullet and tuned down and it made things a lot fatter. Thick strings no longer necessary.
