New pickups day.....

Bought three L-45 twinblade singlesized buckers for my strat!!!
I love my Van Zandt blues.....but I was just curious about the new twinblades from Wilde!!

Also bought an extra L-500 C bucker for my kramer mutt...it is undergoing some changes....double black coils and a white ring, looks great!

Also digging up a maple neck for the thing, getting some regular strat neck and beak it, and mount the Floyd saddle from Gotoh.

Anyways....I am floored by the L-45's!!!
What a great pickup for next to nothing!!
Defently not my last Wilde(Bill Lawrence) pickups!

Re: New pickups day.....

Nice -enjoy, always wondering about those. How'd you describe their voicing? are they trying to do the humbucker thing like the SD Hot Rails or are we talking about something really different?

Re: New pickups day.....

Clear, open, detailed things, got a sweet juicy feel as well.....not clinical or dull.
Single coil'ish but still has its own thing going on!
Have a great spanky tone, they feel like singles, have twang and all that.
No noise what so ever!
They let the guitar shine through, so I guess those are nogood to those who has guitar that is just ok....

Still sounds like my Navigator.....which is one good guitar!

Dunno I am feeling abit odd over it, as I really really like the Van Zandts....but I do not see myself sticking them in there again....these do something out of the ordinary!

Have not heard many pickups doing this!
I am getting two more for my Kramer mutt...haha

Re: New pickups day.....

I've been preaching the praises of Wilde Bill's pickups for years! Nice clip! They sound awesome!

Re: New pickups day.....

Two amps.
Vox AC-15C1 set for a slight breakup, a Laney VC-15 set clean.

Yeah one of my first guitars had old Bill Lawrence pickups.....
Have always had at least one of his things in the house!

I'm afraid that the old Van Zandts got obsolete today...and I really love those!
Ah well I'll just put them away.....

Re: New pickups day.....

I need to get off my duff and buy some of his pickups again. I don't have anything to put them in as of yet, but I'm sure it won't be that way long.

I'd def. keep the VZ's around. You never know when you'll run into an old Kramer Classic Strat or something of that nature that just needs a new set of pickups to make it a great sounding guitar.

I'm not a huge Strat fan, but I wouldn't mind having 3. One with Bill's pickups, one with Bardens, and one with some good ol noise as h3ll pickups in it.

Re: New pickups day.....

I've been on the fence about the L-45's since they came out. Not anymore!
I'll be getting a couple sets soon!

Re: New pickups day.....

Back to my old baby!
After some fooling around with those!!
The L-45's sounds great!
Wired the strat with a 50's wiring, cleans up way nice!
And the pickups sounds great!
Finally got a new pot for it as well...haha
Have postponed that for ages now O-o....
Plus I returned to its original look with black knobs and pickups...
Seems to suit it nicely.
Pictures to follow!

And it works great with distortion, while still being stratty...but it can do this fat bottom intermingling strings now...so I am very happy about it, and it is a good companion to my JB strat!
Compliments each other well.....meaning that the old red is playing and sounding very good!

More oldschool, but that does not bother me, it is not too modern either....nice fit inbetween.

Re: New pickups day.....

Wow! I'm completely sold! I've been looking for a single-coil for my Stat neck situation and it looks like I'll be getting one of those.

Great playing and tone, dude!

Re: New pickups day.....

I heard a rumor that Aria Pro II "Made in USA" pickups in that style are the same. Anyone else hear this? Mine are around 7K.

Re: New pickups day.....

Man, those sound good. I hear some of the growl on low notes and chords that I like about the EMG SA.

Re: New pickups day.....

You just sold me on those. I'm ordering a set this week.

What was the lead time, approx?
250k or 500k pots?
