new pickups for my Iceman...

ok so i just got my new Ibanez Iceman IC400 and I LOVE IT!!! it's probably the most comfortable guitar i've ever played. the only problem i have with it is the pickups. they are good pickups. they sound really full, but they're a bit harsh on the highs. so i wanna change them. i heard somewhere that these pickups are ceramics...so if that's what i can expect out of a ceramic pup, i want wanna put ceramics back in there. i really don't wanna go to emg if i don't have to. i wanna stick with duncan and dimarzio. something high output, and eq-ed similiarly to the stock pups. here are the specs of the guitar straight from the Ibanez website...

Body: Mahogany
Fingerboard: Bound Rosewood
Frets 22
Inlays: Parallelogram
Machine Heads: Chrome
Neck Joint: Set Neck
Neck Material: 3 piece Maple
Pickups:IBZ AH1 (H) Neck, IBZ AH2 (H) Bridge

...so, any ideas?

I wouldnt judge all ceramics by just by the stock pickups. What sort of sound do you want out of it? What sort of music?

Re: new pickups for my Iceman...

i play alternative, emo, metal, and everything in between. i tend to like quite a bit of treble bite. but i also like to be able to have a defined bass.

Duncan Distortion set...or Distortion bridge and a Jazz neck. Yes, the Distortions are ceramic but I am sure that they are smoother that the stock pups. DD's are very full and defined as well as nice and hot. They have a good strong bottom and enough mids so you don't get lost in the mix, I think that in a mahogany body they would be great for what you are looking for!

Re: new pickups for my Iceman...

i have the duncan designed distortion pickup in my schecter. it sounds pretty good, but the bass is a little too loose for my liking. i need it to be tighter.

Re: new pickups for my Iceman...

I have recomended the full shred to you before and I will do it again for alot of treble and tight defined bass. My second shoice will be the Duncan distortion.
If you want a brand different than Duncan, go with the Bill lawrence XL500. They are the ones availble at www.Billlawrence.com

Dime used a XXl500. It was custom made and you cant get them. I am sure the XL500 will probally be in the same neighborhood though. I am positive I dont know the most about Dimebag here but, I really like the album "Vulgar Display of Power" and I think he is using them on there. He also uses solid state amps so the tone will be a little different than tube also.

As far as which songs he used it on, that'd be just about every Pantera release.

I'm gonna throw in the JB & Custom as potential pickups. It's really hard to go wrong with either of them.
