My son bought new pkups for your Ibanez Gio The problem is that he buy an humbucker 59' bridge for the neck position and a humbucker distortion bridge for the brige position. I ask is really a problem, or put a bridge pkup in the neck position is not an issue? Pls someone who now, thanks. What's the advantages or/and the disadvanteges, regards

Re: New pkups

Many players use bridge pickups in the neck. Compared to the regular neck model, you can expect a little more output and a warmer sound in most cases. With a hot pickup like the Distortion in the bridge, the '59 Bridge will match up fine in output. If the '59 is a bit strong, lower its height relative to the strings.

The best way to tell if it is a good combination is to try it and see if your son likes the result.

Like I said, players put bridge pickups in the neck and neck pickups in the bridge all the time when searching for the tone they want. Give it a try!

Re: New pkups

I prefer a 59 bridge model in the neck position of my guitars. Has just alittle more of a "smokey" blues flavor that I like. But still cleans up and does what youd expect the 59 in the neck to do..

Yeah, this is a common thing when using high-output bridge pickups. It helps the balance between them.
