New project for me (old Fender content!!)

Re: New project for me (old Fender content!!)

It is a great looking cab, Lew and crew did a great job with it but like I said I just keepthinkin that Pine will win out in tone over the cherry. Im gonna go with a period correct brown tolex, wheat grill and keep the leather handle...when im done with it it will look just like it did the day it left Fender with the exception of a little wear...and a better speaker!

i think you are right that itll sound better with a pine cab but i bet the cab will sound better without any tolex on it rather than the rough brown, but the brown does look sharp.

great amps. i agree the brown fit so nicely between the tweeds and blacks, little more mids than the blacks which is nice for single note lines

Re: New project for me (old Fender content!!)

Several guys have asked abotu the cab...if anyone is really interested in this cab shot me a PM...

I can't wait to see it when it's done. I'm sure it sounds awesome with that Celestion. I've tried Tweed Deluxe clones with Alnico Blues and they were the best sounding I've ever tried! Good luck dude

I think it'll look great...the silver alnico's are a tad different than a Blue but not a night and day difference. I have wanted a tweed (narrown panel) Deluxe for years...I might not even bother now...this amp just sounds so good!

I really like this amp C, but the cab has got to go. No offense Lew. You did an outstanding job on the cab, but that old amp needs to be in a brown tolex cab! I just take my Fenders seriously. LOL!
I have to ask though. Why not make your own cabs Lew? You did a great job on that one. Veddy veddy nice!!!

It's a screamer ain't it!

Christian, I didn't mention this, but after Bruce ( http://www.missionamps.com )got done tweaking that '62 Deluxe you have, he created an amp based on it. I forget what he calls it. That Deluxe is fairly stock but like all of my amps that Bruce has worked on, it's not quite stock...Bruce did make a couple of changes/improvements to it. Maybe he'll see this thread and comment.
Lew

REALLY!!! I want one!!! I had a feeling Bruce was in this amp but it looks to be fairly stock as far as the values go...I mean it's had a cap job and a few things replaced but they were all put back with stock values...

I think you;re right Jeremy. Im gonna go ahead with tolex, it just begs to be back in a brown suit. Im tellin you guys, as good as it sounds now if the pine cab enhances the tone at all it'll be too much to handle!!! It's a tone machine as-is!
