I have an Ibanez with a HSS setup with 1 volume and 1 tone and a 5 way switch. I wanted to wire the 2 single coils in series with a push/pull pot for the volume and coil split the humbucker with a push/pull pot for the tone. Is there any way i can do this???

Obviously doing the series on the two singles is pretty simple, however, I have never used a tone pot with a push/pull to split a humbucker. I would imagine it could be done though. We have some wiring gurus around here who should answer you within a day or two if not sooner.

I'm assuming Master Vol., Master Tone control plus two switching functions. It is possible to do this, provided that there is sufficient depth in the control cavity to accommodate push/pull pots. (Some of those S series guitars are too skinny, especially towards the outer edge of the body.)

Regarding the series/parallel switching of the two single coils. Series mode will render at least two of the selector switch positions identical to each other and one of them bereft of any signal.

Whichever position remains operational in the series mode determines what will be possible in the other positions. Series mode available at the neck position is easy to select under time pressure but reduces your options to Bridge OR Neck. Series mode available at the middle position makes two versions of Bridge and Neck available together but may prove more fiddly to select live on stage.

Well maybe instead of wiring them in series, could i do them out of phase with a push pull?

Yeah, that'd be easy - wire either of the singles to the push/pull for phase switching, then out from there to that pickups normal position on the 5way switch.

i find series is more useful than out of phase. you can do either one with a push/pull.

I meant which pickup did you want the TONE CONTROL on. I'm not talking about the coil split. The push/pull and the pot portion itself are two separate entities. You can have a master tone, neck/middle tone, neck, middle or bridge tone.

Only by making another hole for the third pot shaft!

I am sure this can be done successfully. I assume the volume and tone will be master for all pickups. The coil split on the HB should be very straightforward - though you might want to consider the option of wiring the HB in series / parallel which will give you a similar tone to single coil but retain the noise cancellation. The single coils wired to the Series switch might be more complex if you want to retain the 2 solo coils option. I am not 100% smart on the strat type 5 way switch. And how you take the feeds to the D_DT from that switch will make a lot of difference.
