I love it! I really wanted to bid on that body when it was on eBay, but I just couldn't justify it. I'd love to see it get a pointy but I'm a purist schmuck, so go ahead. I'm sure the result will be totally bodacious!

Re: New Project: Vintage Kramer Style

That's a sweet project you have there, I can't wait to see it when you are done. I had an NOS 87 Pacer Imperial that I never finished and ended up selling a while ago. I had a reverse pointy neck for mine but I also considered a reverse banana as well. That strat head isn't all that bad or out of place totally, but I think either body color or bare would tie it in better. That black is quite a contrast, however the gold logo should do it some good overall.
To me, its crying out for a zebra or rev zebra just to add to the awesomeness that's already going on.
Nice score and thanks for sharing.

Re: New Project: Vintage Kramer Style

Thanks all! Just kind of using what I've got laying around to piece together a "Player". Although I would love to use a period correct Reverse or Regular Headstock Pointy Maple Board Kramer Neck; I don't count on finding a Maple Board Kramer Neck of any period in decent shape or at a reasonable price anymore. Most of what I see is either beat to crap or needs a full fret job...even then they're overpriced IHMO. But; I'm always looking so if one popped up I'd take a shot at snagging it.

That said; I picked up a 1998 Squier Pro Tone for a good price and planned on re-spraying the headstock and slapping the "Kramer" Logo on it. Specs are what I like: R2 1 5/8" Nut, 22 Jumbo Frets, 12" Radius and it's a nice smooth feeling and comfortable playing Maple Neck. Heel was wider than expected and didn't fit the neck pocket. I was going to flip it and listed it for sale yesterday on the usual sites but I spent some time last night sanding down the sides a bit until it fit the body neck pocket properly so I'm going to proceed with it.

•Part Number: 133-3102-(306)
•Series: Squier Pro Tone Series
•Neck: One Piece Maple with Matching Painted Headstock
•Fretboard: One Piece Maple (12" Radius)
•Machine Heads: Standard
•No. of Frets: 22 Jumbo
•Scale Length: 25.5" (648 mm)
•Width at Nut: 1.650" (42 mm), Locking Nut
•Hardware: Gold

I've run across the Pro Tones a few times at cheap prices ($249.99) and always liked the way the neck felt and played but never picked one up. So the neck was a no brainer purchase.

Re: New Project: Vintage Kramer Style

Yeah,I've still got one of the Mpl LH TransBlonde Strat necks that I sent off to have scalloped a while back.
Put all the Mint goodies on my Blk '86 MIJ Lefty, sold the body.

Pretty underrated guitars, don't think they were in production long.Pretty sure they stepped on teh toes of Fender's other offerings. The MIK necks can be a b!tch to re-purpose,tho,in my experience...

Looking forward to the progress!

Only available '96-'98. They were underrated of course; "Squier" Logo gets that automatically. Fender has put out some pretty cool stuff under the Squier Name and there's even better options in their current line I think. Of course there's better guitars out there but if you're on a budget or tinker with building/modding guitars they make a sold platform. Agree on the "repurposing" difficulty as this is the first Squier Neck that I've used for a project so I wasn't expecting to have to slim down the neck width. Really wasn't a whole heck of a lot but I did sand each side equally a few times to get a nice snug fit.

Looks cool. The Strat headstock is fine on it. The black face is nice with the black hardware.

Re: New Project: Vintage Kramer Style

Thanks. I'm truly not sweating it. Hell; I may leave the Original Gold Hardware on the neck. I'm just glad I took the time and got the heel to fit it properly. Strat Head makes it look like an HM Strat.

Re: New Project: Vintage Kramer Style

Did you get the whole Squier,or just the neck?

edit:
What's wrong w/the neck in the 1st pic?

Agreed on the Blk hdstk, goes well w/the hardware!

Yep! Peeps were saying pointy... I was thinking at minimum, pointy... But a reverse pointy or hockey stick would be the ultimate in 80s badassery!!!
