NEW PRS PICS-drool alert

Re: NEW PRS PICS-drool alert

The guitar plays great. I was a little unsure how the mixed color hardware would look but I think they did a good job. The brushed nickel pu covers with the gold screws are unique as is the nickel trem with gold saddles. As for the dog she is a 10 year old sheltie who always has to get in the picture. Her name, would you believe Santana. Okay you can stop laughing but it is true. As for the price, it certainly wasn't cheap. I happened to be very fortunate and come across some unexpected cash. I work all day to pay the bills , mortgage etc so I figure unexpected cash is fun money. It was between this guitar and a private stock guitar that was priced out at $9750. So I did the "mature" thing and went for the guitar that was several thousand cheaper. At least thats how I explained it to my wife :) .
As for a comparison with my Santana 1, it is a little difficult as I have long ago switched out the original pu's. The brazilian neck feels so silky compared to the standard mahogany. I believe the new one has richer harmonics and a slightly more open sound. I remember switching out the neck pu with an antiquity (with modded mag) to open up the Santana 1. The new one sounds just fine with the stock Santana pu. THe Santana 1's bridge pu was a little harsh for my liking (ceramic mag Santana pu). The new guitar has a Santana III pu which is really a covered dragon II which I think must have an alnico mag in it as it is really very nice. Like I said I think this guitar will probably remain stock - appart from the volume kit I soldered onto to volume pot.

Anyone who doesn't like PRS is just jealous that they can't afford a guitar like yours. That HAS to be the only reason, cause I'd put that up next to anything.

Not true. Many people who could afford PRS don't play them. Everyone has different tastes and that's the great thing in life. If everyone played a PRS they would no longer be special.

I appreciate the craftmanship and the nice cuts of wood that they choose, I just prefer other guitars.

That brazillian rosewood neck though..... :)

The clips will have to correspond to the guitar. I don't know though. you have to be a guitar god to match up the clips to that guitar!

CLIPS CLIPS CLIPS!!!

PRS doesn't put any back plates on thier guitars or was it ordered like that?
On the Santana model they keep the tremelo pocket uncovered. Iguess Santana wanted it that way. The custum 24 has a cover.

That's a real beauty Al. Educations and good jobs lead to some very nice toys in life. ;)

Rosewood necks really are amazing. Now, do you see why they call it "crackwood"?

I am somewhat concerned about that :) . I am clearly no guitar god as anyone who has heard my previous clips will attest to. However I do play all my guitars and none of them are sitting in storage with their original tags on waiting to hopefully appreciate in value. I think fine guitars are made to be played and enjoyed not put in museums. Thankfully there is no rule that says you can only have a guitar that matches your level of playing :)

I dunno man. If having chops made a person worthy of a certain guitar, I would be playing on a plastic banjo! And if the same thing were true about cars, all those f*cking people with corvettes and porsches would be driving yugos as far as I'm concerned! Besides, some of the greatest guitar players ever recorded some of their best stuff on crappy guitars (page and his danos, EVH and his nasty looking frankenstien)

Ya i know man! I would be playing a matchbox with threads as strings !
Its very true - gear actually doesn't influence your creative expression (maybe just a little)... Right now i have all the gear i need to record - preamp, thousands of models, good guitars..., but i've just been writing stuff thats uninspired - so it just lays there - tons of it - and i'm not using any of it to make into an actual song... :(

Aaah Al i'm glad for you man. A thing like this has got to brighten your day every time you get home.

Thanks t4d, now you have really put pressure on me to do some decent clips not just noodling. I can't decide to do them with the MKII or wait until the new ac-30 style amp arrives. Likely I will do both, if I can decide what to do and find the time to do it. I am moving my office in 2 weeks and things are a little hectic at the moment.

Frantic, how is life in TO. I went to UofT.
