I will say though, something about these has always appealing to me.

I have no proof, but my guess is this was a Chinese fake and somebody wanted to see (and then post) what it was actually made of.

There have been a number of 'Chibson' guitars treated in the same manner; IIRC, one actually had Masonite in part of the body.
