New Pups for an LP

Hey Group

Long time listener, first time caller. :fingersx:

I doing a mod to my 1981 LP Heritage. I'm pulling the stock pups and putting in a SH-2n Jazz in the neck and a TB-4 trembucker for the bridge. I'm using the TB-4 as the LP was modded with a Kahler tremolo before I bought it. The LP just has never had the tone I've been looking for. It's not bad, just not really good. The stock pups have never handled the high gain that my Boogie Mark IV has goobs of.

I will also be redoing the pots with 500K audio tapers and 0.047 Orange/Sprague caps. I also found a treble bleed adapter that's adjustable with a little screw, so you can add more or less. I plan on putting that on the neck first only and if I like it, it may end up on bridge if needed.

Anyway, have any on the board used this same combo of the SH-2n and the TB-4 and if so, how did you like them? Any suggestions?

You might want to try a .022 in the bridge and a .015 in the neck, being a Heritage LP you more than likely won`t need a treble bleed as they are some well made guitars. The jazz neck will be bright but in a very nice way, the .015 will allow you to roll the tone all the way off and not mud it up.

The Kahler stud mount vibrato bridge ate your tone. (I write as a fan of these bridges!) IMO, one essential ingredient in the overall tone of a Les Paul Standard is the definition and "bloom" to the notes given by the Tune-o-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece combination.
