Looking to upgrade p'ups and electronics (sometime). Any p'up suggestions? Bridge needs to be 4 wire for splitting. Thanks! I play mostly old time R&R and blues.
The Invader bridge humbucker and Quarter Pound mid I installed probably won't work for your playing style but my web page explains how to install the Kinman treble bleed (very worthwhile), "neck on" mod (allows neck + bridge and neck + mid + bridge pickup selection), how to swap the factory split switch with a series/split/parallel switch (very worthwhile) and describes the magnetic phase problems I had with the mid RW/RP (reverse wind/reverse polarity) pickup. The neck DiMarzio Area T stacked humbucker is a sweet sounding and hum canceling pickup that would fit your playing style.
The Modern Player Tele Plus is pretty different than a standard Tele. It has a humbucker at the bridge, strat single coil mid and Tele neck. The neck and mid don't sound bad so the biggest bang-for-buck mod is to replace the weak factory 3-wire humbucker (wired in parallel from the factory) with a good 4-wire humbucker and swap out the factory coil split switch with a 3-way series/split/parallel switch.
The next mod I'd recommend is a treble bleed so the guitar tone stays stable as you roll down the volume. It's an easy mod and really helps if you like to use your volume control while playing to control overdrive/distortion of a tube amp.
