I purchased a 5 string American made passive Jazz Bass. I installed active electronics (J-Retro from E Pro) but left the original passive Pickups. I have been relatively happy with the results, but still looking for a better sound (who isn't, right?). I talked to a tech at a music dealer and told him what I had done. He said that my configuration was all wrong and that I needed pickups that were specifically designed for Active electronics.
In looking at the Basslines, I don't know what to get. I thought that all I really installed was a preamp and that I could use any pickup. Right now I am really confused and need some help in selecting the best pickups for me.
Anyone in the know out there?
