TwilightOdyssey
Darkness on the edge of Tone
I posted this song when I completed the mix originally, about 3 months ago. However, I was not happy with the way it turned out and decided to remix it. And remix it. And remix it! So, 3rd remix turned out to be the one, and here she is. Even though I chopped the total track count in half, it still has many, many layers of tracks. This mix is also a hybrid mix (digital plugins combined with outboard reverbs and compressors). My main goals were:
Give the drums more impact
Give the snare more body
Increase the stereo separation
Increase the sense of depth
I ran out of processing power at one point and had to mix the drums down, so at that point I was pretty much married to the foundation of the song; I still took about 2 months, slowly working on each section and removing anything that didn't add to the production.
Way too much processing, automation, and outboard gear used to go into detail as what was done here, but if anyone has any specific questions, I will gladly try to answer them as well as I can.
Lineup:
Kurt Borst :: lead and backing vocals
Claire Brock :: drums and percussion
Yours Truly :: guitar, bass, synthesizers, keyboards, step sequencer
I. Instrumental Overture
II.
life - and death
we suspend every breath
light - and shade
all things shall be unmade
ten thousand years
soon disappears
witness the universe slow its turning
galactic entropy
dancing - so entrancing
(even the best song has its end)
bright sun fades colder
(Will dead stars ever live again?)
rumination, calculations made
prophesy the ending of time
psychohistory ends the mystery
finds that the truth lives in the lie
light will lead us to life
III. Gravitational Lens
IV. Axis Of Symmetry
V.
fading night of the last star's light
blistering it boils away
time stand still
from my window sill to the Void
this final day
without a rhyme or any reason
bloated, it burns away
the final light of completion
into decay
out among the darkness
growing, undetected
dimly in the starshine
frail and unprotected
Terminus they named it
edge of all creation
gathering of knowledge
laying the Foundation
light will lead us to life
Give the drums more impact
Give the snare more body
Increase the stereo separation
Increase the sense of depth
