New SD Actives...the "Retribution"!

I was wandering around the webwaves the other night and came across this hidden gem, the Dino Cazares "Retribution" active: LINK

No real info yet, but Evan did confirm that Dino had a hand in the voicing of the original Blackouts (not the "Metal" version), which makes me VERY excited to see what direction he's taking these new ones in! And, for you naysayers, the fact that Dino is responsible for the killer sound of the original Blackouts means that he really does have an ear for good tone, regardless of your opinion of his musical "style".

This forum is in a mood today. Closing the discussion to keep the OP valid. Will revisit once we find out more details.

Re: New SD Actives...the "Retribution"!

Opening this thread back up. A couple months have gone by since I first discovered the existence of the "Retribution" actives. Does anyone have any more info on these?

Re: New SD Actives...the "Retribution"!

Sounds like they will be similar the original Blackout and the EMG 707.

Maybe they'll be closer to the Duncan Designed HB-105s. :D

I'd like to hear a shoot out with this and the Fishman Fluence Modern Ceramic humbucker.

Any news or updates on these??? They certainly have me curious about them, but am hoping for a better tonality than the standard Blackouts... and would like to hear some kind of news/review before I decide to swing for these or the Mick Thomson Blackouts...

Re: New SD Actives...the "Retribution"!

this is the first time that I've seen this thread. I am interested about these as well

Re: New SD Actives...the "Retribution"!

I'm honestly kinda surprised about the Blackouts and how they turned out compared to the EMG 707's... I thought the Blackout was way too damn hot and aggressive, while the 707 had the perfect balance all around. This is why I am anxious to see what these turn out to be like, and hoping for a better tone than the standard Blackouts - you know, the happy medium between the Blackout and the 707.

Can anyone from Duncan give us any info and insight with these, and possible availability???

Re: New SD Actives...the "Retribution"!

Okay. So the signature model guitar is out finally, now what about the pickups??? Dino mentioned in the video that they would be available later this year, so when is that exactly??? It IS the beginning of December already... can anyone shine some more serious light on the release on them? I am dying for a set of these, especially since I can't find the old EMG DC707's anywhere...

Re: New SD Actives...the "Retribution"!

Ah yeah, I had a set of DC707's once as well, they were nice but not as nice as Dino's new ones. Just wait for the Retributions, you won't be sorry ;)

Re: New SD Actives...the "Retribution"!

What I really want for the Blackouts line is a better BMP with WAYYY higher output voltage, organic-compression switch and support for 3 pickups

Re: New SD Actives...the "Retribution"!

What I want, is an active pickup with normal output. :)

Re: New SD Actives...the "Retribution"!

I think they're planning 6's as well. I'm not sure how that fits into the whole Dino thing though.
