Anyone seen/ heard/ used these.

New Sensor now announces the Tung-Sol KT120, which has a plate dissipation of 60 watts, making it the most powerful tube in the 6550/KT88/KT90 family. A pair of these tubes in push-pull configuration can deliver power levels of 150 or more watts. When used at the parameters found in existing 6550/KT88/KT90 circuits, the Tung-Sol KT120 is impervious to overload, delivering peak power with extreme reliability and long tube life. However, taking advantage of the higher current handling capacity of these tubes, a very unique and super powerful and stable amp can be designed using the Tung-Sol KT-120. [/QUOTE

Re: New Sensor KT120

Interesting...looks like those guys that are stuck using 6550's in their SVT's now have a better option...not 6146's but looks like they might be alright!

Re: New Sensor KT120

Sounds like a bassist's delight right there. A quad of those would make one heck of a bass rig.

Re: New Sensor KT120

Suddenly, I may have found a tube for my tube bass poweramp I've been thinking about.

But truthfully, I think a more interesting idea is a single tube class A amp providing 40 to 50 watts of output based off of one of these babies. This may be the first opportunity (save some of those whackier hi-fi and radio tubes) for diy guitar amp guys to provide almost 50watts of single-ended, non-push/pull output, in a modern tube.

Only things I would be worried about and may keep me from doing it:
- Design is new, no indication these wont fail out the gate
- If they are prone to premature failure or there is low demand for the tubes and they are discontinued, the whole amp design is shot. I'm sure the transfer characteristics will be different from KT88s enough where just swapping in KT88s for the KT120s wont result in optimum performance.

Either way, if I had a few bucks to spend I might give it a whirl.

Re: New Sensor KT120

I'd love to see a full spec sheet for this tube with heater amp current draw and other characteristics laid out for prying eyes to see.
