New Seymour Duncan pickups for a Music Man EVH

If you were to order specific models from the Custom Shop, they could always cut the tabs so they fit. You can also swap the baseplate out to one with the correct tabs. This is one of those areas where there are no standards, and that EVH model was made with very specific pickups.
Honestly, I'd try to find someone selling a set of the very pickups that are missing from your guitar.

Ok, thank you, great to know the custom shop can do the job... I have tried to look for a pair of the original pickups but no luck yet!

i'll second the pariah poundcakes as a great choice. The Dimarzio AT-1 would be similar to the original pickups as well. i'm not a fan of the neck humbucker in the EBMM EVH to be honest so i never tried to recreate it!

Yesterday i saw some great reviews and videos of the Pariah pickups, great option.

The pickup route on the body is routed to match that of the tabs on the stock DiMarzios, rounded off pointy shape. They are not square. It should be common knowledge by now considering it hit the market 30 years ago and hasn't changed aside from the name and the switch location.

Gotcha. Thanks!

I had to look up Planet Tone, great prices but long lead unless you pay an expedite charge, and the are in Commerce City, just outside of Denver.

The only thing that bugs me about his website is that he lists DC resistance as "output", ugh.

Yesterday I searched for reviews and videos, there are just a few but good reviews and good videos. The demo of Mick Bryan at Youtube is very good!

Yeah, it just annoys me when a mfg that should know what he's doing calls DCR "output", it's something that is used all the time and is wrong. Okay when laymen use it, just annoying when a "designer" does. I have a degree in electronics before you ask, don't use it that much now days, but I do remember the basics. And yes, I probably have some OCD too LOL!

They do intrigue me though, the Pasadena '78 or the Poundcake look interesting for an old ESP I recently picked up, but it currently has an old, slightly overwound JB in it that will probably stay.

But, a heads up from looking at the pics on the website, the tabs are square so they will need to be ground down to fit in the MM recess.

Hehe Send them the info so they can correct it. ;)

Yeah, if i get those I will ask them if they can chop the tabs to fit the MM. Thanks!

it was mentioned by Larry Dimarzio that in the prototype Music Man, Ed was using a Custom Custom in the neck and a broken JB in the bridge...
DMZ made two models for the bridge...one of them was the TONE ZONE the other was the selected Axis OEM...he said that it was a close call...

So a TZ will get you there...if not try the JB, and prey that it breaks..........

Hahahhaha Please lord! break my JB as you break Ed's :D

Well. I choose Pariah Poundcakes. Planet Tone i think they need to promote more the pickups, have more reviews and use Youtube to show them. Didn't choose Planet Tone because of that.
