New SG day

My nonstop trolling of craigslist and FB Marketplace paid off with this little guy. $750 for a 2017 Ebony SG. Lots of little scratches, original pickups removed for 57 Classics and tuners switched out from Grovers to Klusons. I'll play it for a bit and see what I think. It's my first SG and so far I really dig the thin body. Needs a little setup work but this should be fun.

I have a set of Pearly Gates sitting around I might throw in there if I don't love the 57 Classics. Or just because I want to try them.

Looks great! I’ve had my eyes on an SG since I was a kid but fell in love with the Les Paul when I picked it up shopping for one and have never actually bought one. Hope it works out well for you!

Some local laws require you to tune to C# and play Sabbath Bloody Sabbath at least once a week.

Pearly Gates is great in that. Jazz set is even a bit better. Black Winters and Whole Lotta Humbuckers also work really well in there.

Altough Grovers >> Klusons is a downgrade. I'd put Grovers back on, and get a wide or rough surface strap to avoid neck dive.

Nice score. So it's a Standard, but with a small pickguard? Yes, it should be mandatory to play some of those classic metal riffs in C# daily .

I have a dual P90 model and it's one of my favourite guitars, can do many things and plays effortlessly.
