New Single Out!

El Dunco

Sock Supplier to RHCP
It's been a while with moving house and all but I'm back and back in business! My band just launched a new single called "Repository Of Human Ills" and are playing a few shows interstate including headlining a big festival in Darwin. The song is up on all the digital music retailers (itunes, amazon etc.) and is also on our bandcamp page where you can also get a limited edition CD with two bonus tracks on it (a remix from our last album and a live track which came out really well).

Enjoy bros!

Re: New Single Out!

Those clean vocals threw me off at first (wasn't expecting them) but they were well done.

Dug the tune man, like the production too (other than the teeny tiny snare), sounds full and clear but still raw.

That's something you'll have to learn to expect with us. The unexpected! That and no c*ck rock snares. I think Loi's snare suits the rawness of the track better than any other I could think of and its got plenty of attack and crunch. Some people don't like that sound and that's okay but at least I didn't use sound replacement! (Yuck) I put a little bit of flanger on my clean vocals to make them more sinister.

Yeah, I loved the rawness for sure (but like I said, still full and clear). I don't like 90% of modern metal snares anyway so take my comment with a grain of salt haha It's not bad by any means, just missing some body imo. Or maybe its also missing an eventide harmonizer on it with some gated verb ;)

What do you think of Prong's snare on Beg To Differ? Lots of gated reverb on that.

Re: New Single Out!

I think its a little much on that tune haha. My last comment about the eventide and gated verb was a joke in regards to you saying how there's no cock rock snares here!

Don't forget the burst of TV static. Kidding aside, Eventide have the best sounding effects I've ever heard. The difference between affordable effects and theirs is astronomical.

Have you seen the new Eventide plugin? Think it's called Black Hole?

Re: New Single Out!

The cover image reminds me of RatM. :)

One thing I can say, you definitely have a defined production style -- Fragementa always sounds like Fragmenta. I mean that as a compliment, btw.

Very cool track, quite the mixed bag. A very nu metal vibe, to my ears, but I am far from an expert in the field.

I hear that sometimes as well and it becomes very interesting when you consider the different gear, rooms and even different members in some instances. It's an interesting thought. As you know, sound engineering is extremely complicated.

You're right about the mixed bag, that's another trait we have. If you want to break it down there's some sludge/doom, grunge, death/thrash and some groove metal type riffs here and there (nu metal without the rapping and turntables) even some alt rock verses and of course industrial synths and sampling.

Can it get that Ministry "wall of Als"sound?

Not sure, I've yet to take the plunge on it ... Eventide's algorithms can be very difficult to decypher by name alone.

Most of Al Jourgensen's effects I can figure out except Thieves, Breathe etc. is that just hyper compressed or what?

Oh of course, who doesn't trigger some pink noise with their snare? Eventide makes incredible stuff, I was specifically referring to the old trick where they would take a H910 to run a slightly detuned (and sometimes uptuned as well) snare signal along side it to beef it up, much like the pink noise idea. They actually used this on Back In Black.

Microshift. The Ultra Channel plugin has the micro shift included; it's a fun trick. I also use Soundtoys' Little Alter Boy for a similar effect.

Re: New Single Out!

very cool! brutal distortion on the vox. I dig that bass tone at the beginning, killer death metal!
