New Skull and Bones guitar, made of basswood...pickup recommendations...

Just got a new Skull and Bones guitar (think Lynch, lol) and it's made of basswood. Thinking about a Duncan Distortion for 80's metal. The band I'm in does all 80's rock and metal. Thoughts on the TB-6? Or something else?

That's pretty badass, I like it

Re: New Skull and Bones guitar, made of basswood...pickup recommendations...

It has a JB in it now.

Re: New Skull and Bones guitar, made of basswood...pickup recommendations...

what do you not like about the JB? That thing does 80s metal like it's its birthright. Also, sick guitar.

Floyded Basswood Superstrat? With a JB? Doesn't get much more 80's metal than that?!?!?!?!

Please clarify what you mean by metal….

P90 for "Bad To The Bone" tone. :D

Re: New Skull and Bones guitar, made of basswood...pickup recommendations...

Personally I don't like a basswood body unless it has a maple top - Wolfgangs for example and the pickup would need an A2 and those aren't particularly Metal sounding. Maybe an active pup like a Livewire or EMG 81 would venture into Metal territory with basswood...

Put the George Lynch Screamin Demon in it. If it's a lynch copy, you must use a lynch pup lol

Re: New Skull and Bones guitar, made of basswood...pickup recommendations...

I would think the JB would give you the 80s tones that you're after, but the Distortion will definitely give you the 80s Dokken tones.

My thoughts exactly lol

I would say, the JB didn't sit well with me in Basswood...but I don't play Metal and I really don't know what to recommend for anything "more Metal" for this setup...

JB+ aka Dokkenbucker.

Re: New Skull and Bones guitar, made of basswood...pickup recommendations...

It has a maple cap. We do hair metal, heavier metal, and about to do some Dokken and Lynch Mob. Just thinking the Distortion would be better suited for the Dokken stuff.

Re: New Skull and Bones guitar, made of basswood...pickup recommendations...

If memory serves me correctly, George use the Duncan distortion for most of the Dokken material anyway.

LOl!! WELL said!! And YES, guitar is THE SICKNESS!!!! I always loved Lynch's!

A JB should work great, but as SFW said Lynch used a distortion alot too and it would be a great choice.
