New Song 1st Try

I've always liked the idea of putting 80's songs that are more synth-driven into a rock band format. Last year I played with Human League's Don't You Want Me.

I've been pretty lazy with this since starting in my current band, but I finally got around to doing something new.

Here is the first run through my version of Bronski Beat's Small Town Boy.

Re: New Song 1st Try

I had my reservations with the song choice Stevie, but that does sound pretty darn good. When you laying down the vocals?

Re: New Song 1st Try

Not sure yet Don. I've added some more guitar parts. A big driven sound in the middle on the chorus bits that have no vocal or riff bits, and some harmony lines in the solo. The key is a weird one for me to sing, but I'm still toying with a least having one falsetto line in there. I used to sing a harmony in my normal register when I played it live, but the main lead vocal may take some more thought/planning.

Well I really like what you did with this song stevie_bees! A nice recording too in my opinion!
The only thing that I personally miss is a big, juicy guitar solo, but then again, I am addicted to instrumental guitar music and maybe others would call what I have in mind 'too much' though.
Really nice interpretation of this Bronski Beat's song, I really like what you have done with it! Keep up the good work, many other 80's synth based songs out there for you to have a go at!! :fing2:

Added some more guitars. A single guitar in the middle for the chorus bits where there won't be any vocals and a couple of harmony lines. I've also tweaked some of the drum fills.
