Thanx for the compliments about the tone; I've been working on it for years. I'm not a wall-of-distortion guitarist; I prefer a more 80's high-gain tone.
Let me think:
For
that song, the rhythm guitar is a
Wayne Rock Legend: alder body, JB in the bridge. I played it thru a Fulltone Full-Drive 2 and then into a Rivera Knucklehead K100 1/2 stack. I stack the gain stages so that my amp gain is pretty low, and then use the OD to push it into distortion.
The harmony guitars are a
1979 Strat: hard ash body, Joe Barden Deluxe pups in all positions. The Strat was going straight into an Engl 540 preamp, then into a Marshall EL34 100/100 power amp and a Hiwatt 4x12.
The lead guitar is acutally two guitars --
The 1st half of the solo is an
ESP M1 Tiger: 1 piece maple body, Screamin Demon in the bridge.
The 2nd half of the solo is an
Ibanez Jem 7D: basswood body, Jem Breeds in all positions.
The lead guitar is actually played straight into a ROLAND VG-88 amp modeler. I did this to give the solos a different texture than the other guitars. The model is modded hi-gain Plexi, with some minor EQ tweaks.
