actually I don't think it's so bad..the drums could be heavier in the mix with a little reverb maybe, or just a FAINT hint of chorus to fatten 'em up some. The break at :20 comes in in time, it just needs a snare hit or something RIGHT before it comes in to cue the listener that it's coming...it seems like it's a fast volume fade instead of a hard hitting section like it should be. Also, the hi-hat is a bit too loud, if there's a way to pull that down by itself, do so. Other than that, great first attempt bro

Dirty guitars are compressed enough as it is for me - I never do kind of compression on guitars besides with a multiband on the low-mids, if they're stomping on the bass/kick.
Please, don't use chorus on drums, unless it's a specific effect you're trying to do.
Snare is almost inaudible, kick might as well not be there - turn both up. Pan those hats to the left or right, anywhere but center.
Guitars sound kinda 'distant' - and almost as if they were chorus'd.

Probably the tone you've got dialed in, as well as mic position/preamp. The playing could be a little off, giving it a chorus'd feel.

I think for a first shot at drum programming you've done a really good job. One thing you might want to add is either a ride or crash cymbal playing quarter or eighth notes through the B>C# section @ around 52:00 > 1:07. It might work better than the hats through those long sustained sections and is the kind of thing a drummer would do. Panning wise, try to get the kit so that it sounds like you are standing in front of the "virtual" drumkit, so for example, the hats panned slightly right, crash cymbals harder left and right, toms going from right to left as they would from rack1 to rack2 to floor tom. Some people pan hats hard right or left, but that makes it seem like the drummer has 10ft long arms!
Balance wise the kit just needs to come up in the mix (except for those hats!), and it's also worth trying a compressor over the whole kit, at a moderate ratio, say 3:1, to kind of unify the kit as a whole. Even though samples don't need compression for its classic purpose, it can really breathe some life into them in a mix. It will also match the kit bettter to the guitars.
Overall, good work. Your drummer is probably ******* himself right about now!

Yeah, I agree that compression isn't necessary. I like the guitar tone the way it is now, it fits the song nicely. Honestly, I wasn't listening to the drums too much, I was focusing on the guitar. The drums sounded fine to me though, nothing seemed off. I like what you have so far, finish it!
