New songwriting demo

TwilightOdyssey

Darkness on the edge of Tone
First section to a new song I'm working on. Still have to add the orchestration, but the rock stuff is sounding pretty solid.

** see the updated clip below with the first 2 sections **

Re: New songwriting demo

I really like all the riffs! Epic ending too. My only critique is that the phaser got irritating after the beginning portion.

Re: New songwriting demo

The phaser sounds prettty cool to me..guitar could've been a tad higher in the mix though (or the bass was a hair too loud) .. nice groovy track :)

Re: New songwriting demo

Thanks for listening!
This is just sims to get the riffs down ... I am not a fan of the Leslie sim in Logic, but it was the closest to what I had in mind. The guitar was played live in a single take (aside from the harmony bits) and I didn't want to split the track, nor automate the Leslie for a songwriing demo. :)

Makes sense! Thanks for the context.

Re: New songwriting demo

Started working on the second section this morning. The orchestration will definitely change the overall sound, but I like hearing it back with just the underlying layers before it gets all proggy lol.

Re: New songwriting demo

The beginning has that Crosstown Traffic vibe to it... and the change starting 0:32 is very cool! It also has some grundginess or better put punk stuff starting 1:20... very cool. The bass is heavy man (especially starting 1:20 and all)!

The second part... To be frank, I had a bit hard time to associate the first part with the more funky second part. It kinda feels like two separate songs...

Overall, I like it. Especially, the first part...

Re: New songwriting demo

Les Claypool wisely said, they can't all be zingers. :D
The solution to that is simple; pretend they are different songs. :)
(This is essentially true, anyway; I am not going to spoil it with an explanation of the narrative, though. ;) )

Re: New songwriting demo

Cool lots of different stuff going on there. I like the Jimi influence
