The UK made G10 Greenback replaced a Jensen Mod 10/70 (damn that magnet is crazy strong, got stuck to the reverb tank and the cone ripped a tiny bit when I yanked it off... pretty comical)
The Jensen Mod 10/70 was spikey, trebley and had waaaay too much bass. The Jensen also had some low level fizz that wouldn't go away.
On top of all that, it was just too loud and I couldn't turn the amp much past 2. The Greenback is much more quiet and I can go up to 2.5 without getting too loud. The Jensen had so much treble and bass that I had to turn them on 1 when I went for a clean sound... not any more. The more mid focused Greenback lets me use the treble and bass on clean sounds... and GONE is the fizz and spikey upper mids/treble.
Much more muscular sounding with a nice and neat attack that lends itself well to my style of playing... I like to spank the notes and the Greenback jives really well with "spanking it".
It did exactly what I wanted it to do... almost went for the Alnico Gold but this was half of the price and I didn't necessarily have to have Alnico (I thought that a properly voiced ceramic might just be right up my alley).
Anyone debating on whether or not to go Celestion with their Fender combos should try it.
I didn't play through this amp the last few demos I did, but it's making a total comeback now that it's matched with the right speaker.
