O.K. i am going to be ordering a new SPLAWN 4x12" in green levant to match my Roccaforte head. i am pretty sure i am going to get the new angled model
green levant
silver piping
silver logo
and either black or cane or salt & pepper basket weave grill cloth ?
i am leaning toward cane or salt & pepper.
what do you guys think.

Re: new splawn cab which grill cloth?

Good stuff man.. i just put an order in yesterday for my unloaded 2x12 cab. Sucks to have to wait, but it will be worth it!

Re: new splawn cab which grill cloth?

When you get it, make sure to let me know how it sounds!
Not sure if I would ever get rid of my Rivera/Hiwatt combo, they just sound too good, but who knows? I may get a 2nd stack some day.

no problem ben i'll do that. i wanted to get a roccaforte cab but let's just say they are WAY too much . i can get a full stack of splawn cabs for the price of one roccaforte cab.

Salt and pepper might look pretty cool and original
thanks, i think the cane would look classic but i am not sure about the salt and pepper with the green levant.

Re: new splawn cab which grill cloth?

If your Roccaforte head has a stainless chassis front and logo, I'd go with the salt'n'pepper. Green and gray would look cool.

Oh yeah, salt'n'pepper all the way! If it's cane, it'll look like a cross between Bogner and Greenpeace! LOL I'd go for a grayish look on all that green and silver. Now, you got me jonesin! hehe

By the way, why don't you order the exact matching cabinet from Roccaforte instead of Splawn? They're probably built exactly the same.

because the splawn is less than half the price of what Mr Roccaforte wants for a cab ($1300) believe it or not i think that is a little crazy for a cab i paid less than that for the amp ! and you can only get black grill cloth

Go with the Cane. I had Scott re-do my Marshall 1960 Lead, and had him do it in Cane....it looks SICK in person. Everytime I go into Scott's shop, I am drawn to any cab that has the cane...it's that nice. Salt-n-pepper would be my next choice.

that does look sick !!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: new splawn cab which grill cloth?

I like both too, but the cane is too much of a Bogner signature look. With green and stainless, the salt'n'pepper looks more original. It goes better with silver piping than cane does, and that's an important thing to consider. Silver logo, silver piping, and cane will look wrong.....the more I think about it, the more I lean toward the salt'n'pepper.

I love the way the cane looks on Jeff's Marshalls though, but it has a lot to do with the gold chassis and white piping.

that was pretty much my thoughts as well the cane would look great(like jeff's or your bogner) with white piping but with all the stainless and silver piping i'm thinkin' the salt & pepper would match up better. the new slant cab he is making now is cool too it looks like an angled cab but the baffle is straight like a 1960B cab. straight cab tone and the cool slant cab look !

Re: new splawn cab which grill cloth?

I was thinking about the salt'n'pepper, and something occured to me.
In the late 80's, Marshall made a run of dark green JCM 800's. The grill cloth they used wasn't cane or salt'n'pepper, it was checkerboard, like a lot of vintage Marshalls. It has white, black, and a little bit of green in it. Maybe consider checkerboard too.
