New Strat Time (Pics)

Hey all

Last week, I got myself a nice new Strat. It's a 1993 MIM. The neck has aged to a nice golden colour, and it has little or no fretwear, which is odd. There are very few scratches, and no dings. It looks for all the world as if it could be a 2005! I have since changed the pickguard - white to black, and anchored the bridge right down with 2 extra springs, and screwed the tremolo claw right down. I have a CR/VR/CR set on the way. I was gonna wait until the pickups came before putting the pickguard on, but I couldn't wait.

ha ha ha ha ha! Man i have a 94 MIM strat exactly like that.... Black with an all maple neck and i too changed the pickguard to black... it could pass as my axe... mine is like new as well

Yeah, black on black Fenders are cool. I've got a Highway 1 P bass that looks like that.

Looks real nice, I like the color combination. The neck has definitely aged quite a bit. It looks a ton nicer than the bleached-white looking maple found on new MIM's.

That's a really nice axe dude! I like what you've done by swapping the guard to black and those rails should be pretty sweet too. I only have experience with the hot rails bridge but I've been thinking about the cool rails if I were to get another strat someday. Anyway, nice score!

It's black. It's the first day in a long time that we've had a nice blue sky, so I'm guessing it's the reflection that makes it look blue.

Yeah, I find the Hot Rails to be a bit too hot for my liking. I've never actually tried the Cool Rails in the bridge, but I'm sure it will be spot on what I'm looking for.

i had a hotrails in the bridge of my 94 MIM strat like this one and it was OK... i oddly have a love for those cheap MIM Ceramic Pickups! They seem to be nice, crisp and higher output then some... my 94 has some early 80's vintage reissue Fender strat PU's in it for now.... but i think i'll change it back to the MIM PU's...

I am not into black guitars unless they have silver sparkles typically, but I gotta say man I love that Strat!!! That's really sharp!!!

The CR bridge is pretty bright but it's a GREAT sounding pup.

Wow, I had been thinking about black pickguard with white pickups/knobs, didn't do it in the end because I couldn't get a white neck pu (unless I waited for 3-6 months to import...).

I somewhat regret not doing it...

Wow, just noticed, the guitar is so shiny I can actually see you taking the pictures!!! (at the last two pics)
