New StroboStomp 2

Re: New StroboStomp 2

Man, I'd love to have one of those things on my pedalboard, but I could never justify that price for a pedal tuner.

Re: New StroboStomp 2

the list price on the Strobostomp2 will be the same as the first version, so the price in the stores *should* be the same, but retailers will have to compete. The new version will be shipping right after NAMM...i am considering getting one, since it seems to be a great way to set intonation and a great live tuner as well. it is 30 times more accurate than the Boss pedal tuner, i hear.

Re: New StroboStomp 2

I've got version 1. I love it. I do think that the jacks are the weak point, but I could always fix that if they broke.

I was messing around tonight in my shop and mine is made out of metal. Okay, so its not true bypass. It doesn't add anything or take anything away from teh tone. Mostly a marketing respnose.

I give the original strobostomp two huge big thumbs up.

Re: New StroboStomp 2

Please...just make the thing affordable...like around the same pricepoint as the TU-2.

Re: New StroboStomp 2

Hey, if the "older" model comes down in price as a response to the newer "BETTER" version, I'll scoop an old one & switch out the jacks. :bigok:

Thanks for posting this....I was on the verge of grabbing one :beerchug:

Re: New StroboStomp 2

I have the first version myself, it is true bypass depending on the internal switch. The jacks are a little iffy - but soldering iron could fix that if need be. It a great tuner.

Re: New StroboStomp 2

For the money they're going for the only thing that should be "iffy" is maybe a plastic knob...

+1... listen to Binnerscot everybody.

The 1st version can be "true bypassed" via the internal switch (and yes, true bypass is true bypass, no tone coloration).

The only issue I had with mine was the plastic bushings that feed into the side of the pedal, they didn't order ones with long enough threads to really stay in place so they'd fall out (leaving the jack hanging). What I did was take some 3m adhesive spray to the bushing and now it stays in place, holds the jack properly and there aren't any issues with the sound cutting out.

Amen.

I just can't see paying that price for a tuner. Sure, you get what you pay for but for not much less than even the TU-2, my wife got me the Planet Waves Chromatic pedal tuner (with strobe mode) and it does a great job.

True bypass isn't totally necessary in my book. As long as the bypass circuit doesn't suck tone, it's good. Buffered bypass is actually darn good to have when running long cables. That buffer helps push the signal along.

Re: New StroboStomp 2

well, i think some people are more sensitive to tuning than others- the Boss is +/-3cents, the Peterson is +/-.3 cents...so it is a lot more accurate for things like setting intonation, for others, it is good enough.

the original strobostomp is about $180US right now...the new one *should* be the same price.
I too, think that is a lot of money to spend on a tuner- although people who spent is say it is worth it- I don't know. I do know if they made it under $100, it would be in every pedalboard.

Re: New StroboStomp 2

Therein lies the rub.

But what is their excuse for substandard jacks on a premium tuner?

Re: New StroboStomp 2

exactly, then charge a lot for it. then they make it the way it shouldve been made, and they charge the same price.

I've gone through this with people about my Korg DTR-2. It may be more accurate, but in a gig scenario- I don't have time to be flipping back and forth between sharp and flat. In cases like that it's "too accurate." The Boss TU-2 and TU-12 are fine.
