I thought my 2nd Tele would be a Butterscotsh Roadworn with a solid black pick guard . . .

. . . but after seeing this, i am not so sure anymore !

The fact that there is no Tone knob is a bit of a concern though . . . but bloody hell, this thing is sexy !!!

Re: New Tele GAS has struck me bad last night !

I started a thread about them yesterday and it went off track quick...

I'll just say that I have a feeling that once these hit the used market I'll be snapping one up!

Re: New Tele GAS has struck me bad last night !

I went on a telecaster playing spree the last few days and I just don't get the La Cabronita stuff. Sure, it sounds pretty good (the neck had a nice vintage output and sang pretty sweetly and the middle position was pretty inspiring), but I find that the bridge was uninspiring (I guess I expected more pop and twang out of the notes considering it's a part of the telecaster family). Then again, artists like John Mayer are using them. Todd Nichols apparently is using one in the studio on the new Toad the Wet Sprocket album, so what the heck do I know? :D I guess it's the telecaster for guys that are more fans of the Gretsch thing (where you normally find those TV Jones pickups).

Yeah...

I'm not a big fan of stack pot controls but if you had to have a tone control that might be the best way to go in this guitar.

Filtertrons are funny beasts...I have found that more folks are into the idea of Filtertrons than are really into the sound of Filtertrons.

Filtertrons are humbucking pickups but their tonal foot print is much closer to single coils and their output is much lower than PAF's as well...if you're not into bright cutting guitar sounds Filtertrons are not for you.

Re: New Tele GAS has struck me bad last night !

I am going to state the obvious in a very big and verbose paragraph, adding nothing to the thread except the stench of my wasted breath.

Cool guitar.

Re: New Tele GAS has struck me bad last night !

Is it only MIM or they have a US version too?.

BTW I think it's really cool that even tho it's a MIM guitar has the real TV Jones in it and not some copy

There was a very limited and expensive CS version as well as a less expensive version that was US made and now the MIM version but don't get too confused....the MIM version does NOT have TV Jones pickups...they are copies of Filtertrons made by Fender.

I am looking at this Tele more of a Fender-meets-Malcolm Young type of hybrid : and not a "pure" Tele-tone.
