I just purchase a DBZ Cavallo EX. The guitar is equipped with SD JB's in the bridge and 59's in the neck. It also has a coil tap, push/pull tone pot.
This is the first guitar I have had with the coil tap so I was hoping someone here would be kind enough to answer a question.
When I utilize the coil tap by pulling on the tone knob, there is a louder and more noticeable hum coming from my amp?
I am no expert, but have a vague understanding of coil split and tap. Split = humbucker into single coil, Tap = split the resistance/output in half.
Is more hum when the coil tap is initiated normal, or is it possible the guitar is actually splitting the coils instead...hence no humbucker = hum?
I sure hope this makes sense.
Thanks!
Mike
