I just added cream 36th PAF's and PIO caps, ironically the stock Gibson pots were very good with a real smooth taper and did not warrant replacing. I take poor pics but the one-piece back on this is amazing both in grain and the shade of brown. The neck is not as big as most R7's and R8's and feels much more like an R9. It weighs 8.10 lbs with a heavy tailpiece (3 oz as opposed to the 1 oz aluminum lightweight). Its a keeper at the end of the day.

That's a good year too. It wasn't long after they'd introduced it. It was before they started doing the VOS models.

Did you keep the pelham blue SG?

Yea, but still waiting on the pickups. I ordered a shop floor C8 and a PG with nickel covers back in Nov, they were estimated to be in by Dec 3rd and still nada.

As for SG's, I'd really like a nice brown one the same color brown as the R7's back, with a fat neck and a small pickguard. I'd put double creams in it too. but alas no such animal exists except in my GASious mind.

Yep, 90's Historics are great. With the weight, the stunning wood, and the neck shape, I swear this is an R9 except with goldtop paint.

Fantastic guitar, congrats. A gold top R7 is on my list... and that one fits the bill very nicely!
