New (to me) Les Paul Standard Faded.

Re: New (to me) Les Paul Standard Faded.

I have a 2006 LP Standard Faded and it just gets better each year, both in playability and looks.

I did switch out the tune-o-matic for a Callaham, the stock Burstbuckers (I really don't get on with Gibson stock pickups at all) for a set of SD 59's in Triple Shots, Peter Green mod and Series blend on push-pulls, tuners for Gotoh locking units and, finally, 50s wiring for the tone pots. All of that over the years rather than at once.

What was a quite lovely guitar is now one of the most flexible I own - it does what it's meant to do so well, but can also cover many, many more bases. Great live, even better recorded - congrats on getting the deal!

Man that is awesome!! Congratulations on an outstanding new guitar. I'm sure you will love it.

Re: New (to me) Les Paul Standard Faded.

I really like these Faded models, and I'd get one if I ever found one at a great price. The Historics are my fav Les Pauls, but they really got the colors right on these, and the tops have just enough flame to make them look vintage. Some of the guys on the Les Paul Forum have buffed them out with Virtuoso Cleaner and Polish, giving them a beautiful patina.

Nice score.

Nice. Normally the bursts are a little too much for me, but these look great. Faded Tobacco is my fav.

Beautiful find. Congrats on a great looking guitar.

Fantastic guitars guys. I love my standard faded. I get compliments on it all the time, Yours are both exquisite examples as well.

Great score, good luck with it.

I've had my '05 since it was new. Saw it, fell in love immediately.

Gone thru some pickup swaps. Currently a C5 and a custom wound PAF neck. Have a lightweight aluminum tailpiece designed for top wrapping and a stock bridge. Had a TP bridge but spacing was a little wider and it didn't quite work with the guitar. Took off the poker chip right away and switched to reflectors early on. Mine weighs right about 8 lbs which I love. Just went back to 11's on it, using D'Addario Nickels.

Pic isn't up to date but no matter

The finish on the neck plays in nicely and the top will come up in shine where it gets touched a lot. It does burnish because of the thin soft finish but it'll look like a great well played guitar.

This one looks like a guitar that has been played, roughly, for decades.

Re: New (to me) Les Paul Standard Faded.

Then Creamtones look good and make the LP look really smooth.
Also, here is a thanks. You have just given me an excellent reason to switch out the sh*t can knobs on an older LP that I have.

Re: New (to me) Les Paul Standard Faded.

Niiiiice. The Standard Fadeds are my favorite Les Pauls. I was so bummed when they discontinued those. I wish i could find a good one with a 60's neck for under $1500.

For now my ESP Eclipse in Aged Honey Burst will have to do. ;)
