New to the forums, pickup question

Hello there everybody!

I was just wondering if I could get any suggestions for a new bridge pickup for my guitar. I bought a Schecter PT Fastback for my birthday a few months back and have been loving it ever since. However, I'm not really diggin the bridge pickup, which I think has a Duncan Designed HB-102. For me, it has waaaaay too much output. I usually end up using it split. So, does anybody have a suggestion as to what I could put in instead? Im really open to anything. Thanks again everybody!

Welcome to the forum.

What sounds are you after? What amp? What is the guitar made out of? What kind of music do you play?
You cannot go wrong with a custom for a well rounded pickup

Re: New to the forums, pickup question

Wow, thanks for the quick replies! Hmm, I guess I should have specified what I am sort of looking for. I play mainly pop/rock or indie (I know, I know I hate that using that word too) type music in the vein of Death Cab for Cutie, The Strokes, Built to Spill. I am also into Classic Rock 70's punk kind of stuff as well, such as AcDc, MC5, and the Stooges. I guess Im kind of all over the place. I don't really have a decent amp at the moment, just an SS Marshall MG15 (Sad I know). But I plan on getting a small tube combo amp soon. Basically Im looking for a pickup that isnt searing hot like the JB. Thanks again for the reply!

Re: New to the forums, pickup question

The 59 works well for that kind of stuff, but personally, I'm a big fan of the Pearly Gates' top end sizzle.

Re: New to the forums, pickup question

Wow this forum moves fast! So it seems like the '59 is for me! Thanks!

Re: New to the forums, pickup question

For all around moderate output sound, hard to beat a 59.
For a darker guiatr or a little more high end - The Pearly Gates
For a big fat sound, The A2P

You want the 59...

And if you want slow, hit the DiMarzio forum. Oh - that's right, there is NO DiMarzio forum. But we are pretty much equal opportunity tone here, with an obvious preference for Duncan, but most call it like they see it. And over at the amp forum, they'll set you up with the proper amp right quick too! welcome!

Ace nailed it, as did several others. Just depends on what "flavor" you want your pickup to have. Ace's descriptions are spot on. I'd go 59' as well.

Re: New to the forums, pickup question

Hard to add to what I would have recommended too, '59 all the way. BTW, welcome to the forum! Now.....you need to post a picture of your Schecter to really be part of the forum.
