New Toy today -that plays like a dream.

Re: New Toy today -that plays like a dream.

Congrats. The bassplayer of my first band (Heimat-los) had a rather similar bass (with quite different pickups) and later sold it to me when he bought a G&L. And returned it to him a few years ago.

So that Kramer bass was so f**** heavy to carry around. But was quite good to play brutal hardcore punk. Hear it in the introduction of those songs (recorded in 1984) :
01:33 Warsaw
03:07 Schlag!
07:32 Anti-baby

OH man -I totally enjoyed that.... I listened to the entire album.... I'm not used to people posting things on here that aren't 80s shred, or Classic Cover Rock.

Without Fatherland!!! -I was listening to a lot of hardcore punk at this time in the US -I wonder if I ever heard your stuff before by chance.

How come nobody told your bass player that you can't play a G&L in a hardcore punk band? :)

Thanks for listening !

He could play HC punk with a G&L. Here's our last show (1988) :

(My guitar is a Aria Pro II - RS-X80 - Matsumoku 81)

Ha, it must be a translation thing.... my comment is a joke about G&L

In America, G&L is looked upon as a Borgeouis or Nobility class brand. :) . A guitar for the fancy.

I was making a punk joke that may not work in French. :)

OK I got it. Sorry I did not know about about the G&L image.

I wanted to add that I like the Kramer / Travis Bean forked aluminium headstock. It is quite distinctive.

Which America are you talking about? You can't throw a rock in a room full of G&L's without hitting at least 6 with a sub-$700 price tag.

Re: New Toy today -that plays like a dream.

I understand that, traditionally a lot of Travis Bean Kramers have slight neck warps if not cared for.

This one is perfect as it should be.

Serious now, last month Reverb had coolest guitars sold for the year. Well, there was a Bean guitar, not bass, but it was like 6 grand?

Not talking about how many they are now -they've had budget models for years and we are talking about the 80s when G&L was pretty elite -even now the G&L image is of a high end improved version of a Fender. and he played in a 80s anarchist hardcore band -so the G&L wouldn't fit a band like that in America. thats all I was saying.

Yeah, they are super collectible -that's why I grabbed it -it was a steal.

Hahaha! Id love to see that!

To me a $1500 American Strat is getting too fancy for its britches.

I’ve seen several of the guitar versions over the years (not in person, but in pics etc) but this is the first bass version that I can recall.

Re: New Toy today -that plays like a dream.

I went to Hawaii in the early '80s, and it seemed like every band had at least one Kramer or Bean instrument. Must have worked in that humid clime.

Nice bass!
