New Toys On The Way

My PRS gas has got the better of me, I've kept it at bay since August but today I snagged this for a really stupid price. Its a minto PRS Santana SE.

I had been on the look out for Singlecut with P90's but just couldn't pass this one by.

Now decision is what SD's to go for phat cats, hums or a bit of both...mmmm

Re: New Toys On The Way

You could always put a set of HB sized p-90's in there since you will most likely change the pickups anyway.

Re: New Toys On The Way

Definitely go with hums! I have heard that the Pearly Gates sounds good in those. There is a video on utube where somebody put Burstbucker Pros in his Santana SE! It actually sounds good! I don't think he knew how to dial it in on that video but you can hear what it would sound like.

Don't have a P90 guitar at the mo and I'm quit intrigued what it would be like. And it was the way I was originally intending to go with a PRS.

Time to find some Phat Cats:)

Re: New Toys On The Way

I picked this up today. Got off to a bad start this morning put petrol in my diesel car :smack:. £176 to drain the tank - the new pickup fund is now empty!

Its in pretty good nick needs a clean, new strings and a setup. Build quality seems to be good for a cheapy axe.

When they say the neck is wide and fat they weren't joking! But thats just the way I like them!

I'm not sure about the pickups - neck sounds murky/muffy/lacking power and the bridge is way too bright for my tastes, will have a play with the pickup heights first.

Still undecided whether to go for phat cats or a regular HB combo.

Bummer about the petrol/diesel mix up! Hopefully your ride is fine. I've seen the engine damage the wrong fuel type can cause.

If the pickup heights don't help with the sound, I'd say just switch the positions and see if things change a bit. It won't cost you anything but a little time and solder.

Ride is okay touch wood, I had the foresight not to start the engine, so the petrol hadn't actually gone anywhere.:)

Hadn't thought about switching the pups around, thanks for the idea.
