New TS9 style pedal day + Family pics

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
Finally returned one of my favorite TS pedal to the fold! The TS9DX or Turbo Screamer and it's glorious 4 modes - TS9, +, Hot, and Turbo!

Just a lot of Tube Screamer goodness and simple but fun mods.

And, for reference, here is my Green Overdrive pedal lineup:

As I have always said - there is a Green Overdrive out there for everyone...

TS9DX - TS9 plus three gain/bass mods. + adds output and more bass (cool mode!) And hot/Turbo add more gain and even more bass. This pedal might be a great choice when you don't know what amp is coming up, or have a particular amp the plain TS9 just doesn't quite gel with.

TS9 - TS9, you know it, you love it. Or not. I do.

TS7 - A TS9, but the hot switch dumps more gain on (more than the TS9DX). Cool off you wish a TS9 was more like a Blues Driver.

TS5 - It's a TS9

Bad Monkey - More gain and control over the Bass

Green Screamer - I'm partial to this one as a favorite. Just something about it. Smoother? More refined? Don't exactly know. It's a TS9.

Vintage Over Drive - It's a TS9

Is 'Hot' mode like the TS7's? I like that. What's the difference between Hot and Turbo?

TS9DX + = TS7 Hot
TS9DX Hot is less gain, more bass, and way more level. This is great output slamming a Marshall
TS9DX Turbo is even more level

You almost have a Bonsai with all those.

On my TS9DX one of the modes is more like 20db of clean boost. (Can't remember which, either the plus + or the hot.) Apparently in later revisions Ibanez added a jumper to the mode board and later revised the board to not need the jumper which put back some of the drive to that mode.

That would be Turbo. The last two are loud, but not ultra gainy.

I guess the TS7 Hot - or the + here is one reason I've never really went full Blues Driver.

You really should try an od808 and an od9. They both sound better IMO than a modern ts9. I can't speak for the current ts808.

I am in the "99% of the differences you hear are pot variances" and the other 1% I can't hear anymore anyway camp.

Maybe need an 805 in there!

There ya go, something quite different.

Really I was very surprised when I compared the ts9 to the od808. They are not even close IMO.
The od808 makes the ts9 sound like an SD-1, which isn't bad by any means, just very different.

Why not?

Plus, the Vintage was like $20, the TS7 and Soundtank were cheap, plus Hot on the TS7, And everyone needs a Bad Monkey.

Sometimes, this is how you learn. If I could keep one, it would be the new one.

If you like these then you'd love a Maxon, or the original Ibanez. I agree on the Bad Monkey though!
The od9pro+ set to mid-boost mode is like an improved ts9. It's both clearer and carries more of the fundamental tone, and can be hotter too at the same time if you want.
