New Tune, 6 $$$ Trick. Funky Funky

Bullet Proof Toneologist
Just finished a new song, a funky ditty called 6 $$$ Trick. I am useing my 69, EL84, Traynor Bassmate head for all the guitars. My 62 RI Strat with an 8.3 HighOrder pickup. My Cab is a 64 Gibson Mercury Cab, loaded with a Swamp Thang and a Tonespotter.

We did the drums in my living room, we just tracked it with bass, snare and hi hat. Tiny little kit, Rikki Davenport, who drummed on this tune is 6 ft 3, so it was a pretty funny visual. Touch of circus bear to it.... He lays some serious groove down. The keyboard solo was done by a friend, Peter Guertin. it makes me want to do a whole album of 'go go dancer' music...

Many thanks man!!

I am usually grinning as I track this stuff, I am not composing on the dark side of the force... Glad to hear it brought that reaction.

Wauw!!
Sounded like old Jeff Beck stuff from the 70's:D
Loved it man!
Great lo-fi funky sound!!

Exactly what I was shooting for. I room mic'd everything and kept everything just a bit rough around the edges. I love a slightly 'junky' sound. That 70s stuff is the best!!

Nice living room ambience on those drums. The basic tune has a Parliment feel to it.. that's very cool, since that sound is not usually in the air these days. Guitars are totally in that Planet K style, Beck, EVH influences always there.
I like that little bridge area starting at about 2:10.
Nice rhoads stuff in there too.
You have a fun factor, great chops and funk factor in this one.

You pretty much nail all my main influences. I have been listening to a lot of P-funk, esp Eddie Hazel. One of the most underrated ever IMO.

The drums came out really nice. Our living room is just a perfect drum room. We did it with all room mics, except for the kick drum.

An old friend laid down that key solo. I wanted to depart from the guitar just a bit, he laid it down so perfectly. It really added to the track.

Thanks for all the words my friend!!
