this is my first song post here. i'm curious what you folks think about this. this song was the first time i had live drums broken out into individual tracks. before that i was using either a drum machine or other drum samples that had the whole drum track recorded onto 1 track. let's just say this was a learning experience with reference to trying to mix a drumkit!!!

anyhow, since i know you're all gearslutz, the bass is a fender '62 re-issue P going into a sansamp di. the guitar is a gibson SG into a 1/2 watt zvex tube amp into an orange 2x12 cab mic'd with an sm58. this was the first time for me mic'ing a cab. before this i went direct using a pod xt or other emulator. again, this was a learning experience with mic placement, etc.

my friend played drums and he did an EXCELLENT job methinks.

oh yea, i think i may have ripped off tool's 'rosetta stoned' riff. :angryfire did i?

the tune is here:

any criticism, comments....? thanks for listening!

Nice tune. I think you did a great job with the mix. Thats a great sounding little amp setup.

I think the bass drum could use some more low end. Not quite enough thump for me, but that could be just me. Also a little more cymbals, hats and ride.

Other than that, sounds great.

The tune is great! Some hypnotic stuff happens :D

Guitar sounds great, drums were played pretty tight.

Thanks for sharing!

thanks a ton for the comments guys. riff, yea, the drums were a hard beast to try and get them where i wanted them. i still go back and forth with the overall mix.

i think i'm most proud of this song. ever since i dumped my pod for an amp i've spent more time playing and less time messing around. my homepage in my sig file has more of the stuff i've done. thanks again for listening and for your comments and constructive criticism. i really appreciate it!
