Re: New USA Select Series from Charvel

only one knob again? and for the next years, 2 knobs and no load+coil split ?lollll

I think they made those changes in the pro mod line so that when they released these, there would be some differentiation.

Re: New USA Select Series from Charvel

The SoCal doesn't come with a maple board, does it?

I miss the old MIJ versions. The quality of the MIM versions is great but they have the recessed Floyd routs... Me no likey floating Floyds.

Re: New USA Select Series from Charvel

Why not just wait until they move the production to Japan and pick one up then?

Cuz, IIRC, the factory the old MIJ version was produced in was either heavily damaged or just doesn't even exist anymore.

I think they just totally shut it down. Thats why they moved production for the non USA EVH and Charvels to Mexico

Re: New USA Select Series from Charvel

When charvel first went back into production with the So Cal 1 & 2 and the San Dimas they were off to a good start, but it seems like each year I wonder what the hell they're doing. They should have a consistent SD and SC models that people will know they have each year plus these experimental models they've been doing. And keep either the spoke truss rod adjustment or the truss rod adjustment at the headstock. Nobody wants to buy a guitar where you have to take the neck off to adjust. It's 2016.

Re: New USA Select Series from Charvel

Just a question.. Never owned a satin finished guit.. Any benefits or differences as far as wear or chip resistance?? Im guessing not..

Quite the opposite, actually. Wears out much faster and far less resistant to nicks and chipping. That being said, satin necks feel pretty darn tootin' great. They don't get sticky like a thick poly-coated neck can get.

Re: New USA Select Series from Charvel

Huh? I thought Fujigen made them, and Fujigen is still in business.

No, Fujigen made MIJ Fenders from about 81/82 - 96/97. I am not sure where the Charvels were made in the 2000's but after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami production was halted for them.

Re: New USA Select Series from Charvel

Actually, Fujigen are up and running. They're building their own brand now, FGN guitars.

the adjustment IS at the headstock

On these, yes. The last batch of Charvels I saw had truss rod adjustment at the neck heel. Then there were the ones with the spoke wheel adjusters. Just make it consistent across the line. That has got to cut down on cost too.

They must have been different years of manufacture. They just added the pinwheel this year.

all of the 2016 line that was introduced at winter NAMM have the spoke wheel adjust. The only ones that might have the neck/heel adjustment are custom shop one offs
