Been wanting one of these since they came out...

Gibson Les Paul Studio Raw Power Electric Guitar
Product #582135

A Les Paul in its most basic form”without any compromises".

Gibson USA's Les Paul Studio Raw Power is the Les Paul in its most basic form, yet built like none other before. It starts with a highly resonant lightweight chambered maple body with a matching traditional carved maple top, resulting in a more articulate, bright tone. A maple fingerboard gives each played note a snappier response. The Raw Power Les Paul comes in a variety of satin 'nitro' finishes. All the rest of the basics remain the same: 22-fret solid maple neck, a volume and control knob for each pickup, one three-way toggle switch, Grover Kluson-style green key tuners and Gibson's pioneering Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece. The new Les Paul Studio Raw Power from Gibson USA is solid. It's dependable. And most of all, it's affordable”without any compromises. Includes Gibson gigbag.

I bet that sucker bites like a German Police dog.. I'd love to hear it..

Re: New/Used Guitar Day: 2009 Gibson Les Paul Studio Raw

It actually doesn't sound radically different; clearer and a bit more defined but still Gibson LP. It's in no way treble heavy or shrill. The '57 Humbuckers are pretty sweet.

New Gibson Black Switch Tip, Speed Knobs and Allparts Strap Locks on it. Be putting the Gibson TP-6 Fine Tuning Bridge and fresh strings on tomorrow and adjusting the action and pickups.

Agile was making a Maple Board LP Copy too...think it was in their 2000 Series.

I'm just glad I ran across this one on Reverb; $500 w/HSC plus $49.00 shipping. Damn good deal!!!

Thx! It def doesn't sound like rosewood or Ebony and is indeed more defined but it's not shrill and trebley. Plenty of Gibson "growl". This guy makes his sound pretty damn good; should give you an idea as to the sound...

Seems like it would be bright & heavy, but kudos to them if it isn't. On specs alone, I wouldn't be interested, but if it sounds great, then you win.

Re: New/Used Guitar Day: 2009 Gibson Les Paul Studio Raw

Maple body thats interesting, and how do you like the classic 57?

Re: New/Used Guitar Day: 2009 Gibson Les Paul Studio Raw

Why is that fretboard so brownish? Isnt it rosewood?

I played an Epiphone Tribute with 57s
I thought they sounded great

They get a lot of crappy reviews but I liked them

Hadn't read any reviews on them other than in reviews for the Raw Power and it seemed they were well liked. They're certainly not cheap individually from what I'm seeing. No need or plans to change them IMHO.
