New Vinnie Moore Dean Guitar

Re: New Vinnie Moore Dean Guitar

I remember seeing V M open for Rush back in '91 (?) somewhere around that time. Roll the Bones tour. He was great! But as usual, most people just want to see the headliner so if I remember right he was sassed by the crowd and he had a few choice words to say and dropped his guitar on the stage and left it feeding back. Very cool exit IMO!

Funny....Sterling speculated that he moved to Dean to feel like a bigger fish in a smaller pond.

....meanwhile Dean is doling out sig axes to anyone that walks by.

Yeah, I don't really follow that reasoning either. Although, Music Man knows a thing or two about goofy signature axes *coughbenjimaddencough*

Dean sure is good about putting stupid looking headstocks on their guitars, though.

Slightly related...

I can't say I am much of a fan of MAB, but his guitar sure looks cool.

That is a very cool guitar.

Re: New Vinnie Moore Dean Guitar

I don't care for the headstock ,i am shure he got a good guitar..That's business and he lives from it!I don't think he cares how his guitars look like..It's a tool to earn his living ,and if it's good sounding and dependable ,why not?!

Sterling himself said that Sig Axes get doled out on the basis of them selling.

Despite the overwhelming attendance in this thread the guitar buying world isn't likely to come running to buy a Vinnie Moore Signature Axe, at least not on the level which would make Ernie Ball profitable enough for them.

Re: New Vinnie Moore Dean Guitar

You're sure right about that one. For that particular reason, I've never even considered a Dean.

I was the same way.. I never liked Robin guitars due to the stock either.. BUT, Now I have, and LOVE, a Dean, Im over it.. The neck rips and my ML sounds fab!!

Re: New Vinnie Moore Dean Guitar

I agree Vinnie Moore is 1 of the best allround guitarists ever. The perfect middle ground between awesome chops & musicality. Nothing he does can be considered "wank".

As for that guitar, that'll more than likely be the prototype & the finished article will be more refined than that.

Rusty Cooley & Michael Angelo Batio both got prototype guitars to try out which were changed (aesthetically) to what are now their sigs.

I don't agree Dean dish out sigs to everyone as a general rule- Moore, Batio, Mustaine, Schenker, Dime have paid their dues but the Trivium guitarists getting sigs is a bit obscene when they are a glorified Metallica tribute band!

Still, i doubt this'll be the finished Vinnie Moore sig.

I actually liked the Rusty Cooley signature when it was the deep red. It looked classy & that high fret access was/is great, but now that graphik is beyond ugly. It looks like some 10-year old's art project after watching "Alien".

MAB's is great, but his tone has always been passive DiMarzio's so i'm not sure how active EMG's are gonna sound with his tone.

Re: New Vinnie Moore Dean Guitar

Three things. Dean are making their own pickups now. I cant wait to meet Vinnie when he attends the Dean Open House in late February. Isn't the headstock on Vinnie's guitar the same one on MAB and Dave Mustaine's signature guitars?

Yep it is indeed.

And it's on the Cooley sig too.

It's their "Pointy" headstock. I like the reverse B.C.Rich headstock of all the "pointy" headstocks.
