So you guys helped me with a pickup combo, dropped everything off with the tech for complete overhaul. While there I picked up 1 I had a setup done to.
Little background on this guitar...I bought it in 2001 I think. I played it for a few years off/on and usually unplugged or through headphones. Been sitting in its case for a LONG time...At least 10 years.
Anyways, this is an ESP custom and through all our research it appears to be a custom order. Thin horizon carve top, hard maple neck thru with alder sides and ebony FB. Antique binding on neck and headstock only, which btw, headstock is reverse. OFR bridge (had it set up for dive only). For pickups, SD mini bucker neck (antique finish) and full shred bridge. 1 volume and 3 way toggle. Natural finish.
Now, setup is flawless!! Perfect as usual, love the neck pick up. Using the volume I got lots of great tones. Now, I hope I don't offend anyone but that full shred is HORRIBLE, and that's saying it nicely! It shrills like an icepick, screaming banshee in a bad way.
I guess I'll have to find a good bridge pickup to match the neck...Maybe this 1 will get the EVH? We'll see, but something is going in there as this guitar is SWEET!!! Just a joy to play.
