NG*D (Gilbert)

This one is a Washburn/ Lyons Disney "Secret Star" (Hannah Montana) I did for a local jazzer. I put Bill Lawrence pickups in it. He loaned it to one of my rock clients to record with. The guy playing later bought a "Camp Rock" version from me with Duncan Invaders loaded in it.

The video is horribly recorded on a smartphone, but you get the idea... They work well, and are fun to play. Skot tuned this down to drop C......

It's almost like a tuned down version of April Sun In Cuba by Dragon.

Worth checking out (and to see him in action) is this clip from NAMM, with one of my favorites, Steve Morse.

Really nice! A store nearby has a deep blue one with pink F holes, like the one Paul plays in the Addicted to that Rush video, and I kind of want to get it.

I probably would have got that, however, I prefer the black dots over white. Especially on maple.

Also, I'm not sure how many, if any, made it to Australia without needing to be special ordered.

What's interesting is that the first one is called PGMM31, the second PGMM21, and so on... are they only going to make 3? How did they know that in advance?

My guess is this is Paul's doing.... Ibanez just makes the stuff he wants, because he's the idea guy. He is not afraid to rout holes in a guitar for a whammy system, and a new finish - and then say "fill that whammy hole, put another pickup here, and refinish it again...". Many of his guitars evolve through the years.

That pink "Ice-Stroyer" he recently sold on Reverb started with a Floyd, then a Kahler, and then a hardtail. At one point in its life it sported white fringe on the bottom of the peghead, the neck, and the lower part of the body. Paul likes to have FUN with his guitars, because he's a happy guy (and it shows). Helps being a badass player, too.

Decided to go with the Grover 406BCL6 tuners - mini, black, locking, left handed/reverse headstock, 18:1 ratio. Seems the simplest way, drop right in place, no drilling required. They're going to cost almost half what I paid for the guitar, but for improvement's sake and being the only hardware replacement, I can (just) deal with paying that much.

Screw it, it's CHRISTMAS.

Paul plays the Mikro for fun live from time to time. It's not one of his regular players. Looks like fun to play. The man is a beast and fun to watch/listen to.

FINALLY received the new tuners today in the mail.

Last check before I chuck them in... do they just go in as pictured? i.e. bottom to top - EADGBE?

I'm stringing this thing upside down, so clearly they will need to be put in reversed if that's the case.

The picture of the two guitars is tricking my brain.

The micro guitar has a reverse headstock, and you're going to flip it over.. so it has a normal headstock.:boggled:

Do you ever wish you learned to play right handed? MAB is lefty and he learned to play RH, so it can be done. Seems like the selection of LH guitars is too limited.

Does he do it in a "mini stonehenge" kind of way? To make fun of the seriousness of his youth?

Looking at guitars to flip a reverse headstock is what got my attention in the first place. It's funny.

Maybe after I've learned to play right handed, I can figure out a way to s**t out of my d**khole. That would be a 100% completely rational thing I could learn to do.
