Ngd: 06 Gibson Les Paul Special Sl

Just picked this up on a cl trade deal last friday. Loving it so far, slab gloss body, 60's neck, and 490r/498t pickups, and came with the nice plush gigbag the lesser $$ Gibsons come with. all stock very clean. After playing it a bit, Like most I didn't like the imbalance of the stock p/u set (seemingly muddy neck/bright bridge), so I swapped the mags with a pair of rca5's and man did that do the trick. All that is needed now is to replace those awful 300k volume pots with 500k ones, and get some new saddles and a nut (both worn) , and to replace the cracked stock knobs. This thing flat smokes the studio 60's tribute I had previously, which always felt a little thin to me no matter what pickups I had in it..IMG_E9373.jpg.

I actually thought a satin version is what I was getting, needless to say, I was quite pleased to be wrong! I bet that pgn and brobucker killed in yours. I am liking the mag swapped stock 490/498 combo enough for now, swapping to 500k (or slightly more)volume pots, I think will sharpen it up the last 10%

I did the same thing with those pups and put them in my Caddy. Years later...still in it!
