NGD - 2014 Fender Deluxe Lonestar Stratocaster

New guitar day woo hoo! This is a 2014 lone star Strat. I have tried many, many Stratocaster's over the last six months or so. This is the only one that really spoke to me and wouldn't let me leave the store without it. Texas special pick ups in the neck and middle positions, Seymour Duncan pearly gates Humbucker in the bridge. special S1 switching though I have no idea how to use it at this point. It was on sale for consignment for $600 including a beautiful fender hardshell case.

Really cool guitar. Are you sure that's not a Fender humbucker? Doesn't look like a Duncan.

EDIT: Or maybe some of the Pearly Gates Pluses actually had the three bolt mounting, so it could be? No longer sure.

Actually you're exactly right. I looked it up and found that after 2008 they replaced the Pearly Gates Plus with a Fender branded Humbucker. Still have the Texas Specials in the other positions though. I still think it sounds good but may have to keep my eye out for a Pearly Gates Plus.

Nice Strat! The S1 switch should just split the coil of the humbucker when pushed in. Enjoy!

Hi, i had an old Lonestrat scratchplate in parts drawer. It came to me by chance and i never cared for it until a friend looked for new pickups. Those Texas Special pickups are raunchy as hell and great. While the string line up are a real mess, the pearly Gates are not a great match to the TS. Rounder in tone and lower in volume when split in the 2nd position. I think to swap the Pearly with a Screamin Demon.

Congratulations with your new guitar mate!
Even if your model does not have the Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates + any more, you can be happy about the fact that it still comes with Texas Special single coils, those are one of my favourite "stock" pickups, I do like them!
Shame that Fender has shifted away from using Duncan pickups in my opinion!!
They don't make the LoneStar anymore, and the Roadhouse now comes with Vintage Noiseless pickups, not my idea of a Roadhouse Strat if you ask me... I much prefered the Texas Specials to the noiseless ones in a Roadhouse Strat. If you ask me most Deluxe models have gone a step back because of the pickup change. I did not mind them offering a Deluxe model with noiseless pickups, but now all of the Deluxe models come with those... Nah, I don't like that.
Have fun playing your LoneStar amigo, with just a couple of slight upgrades (like a GraphTech nut for example), that makes for a great HSS Strat! Enjoy it!! :fing2:

Thanks buddy. I am thoroughly enjoying these Texas Specials. I've never really had a neck pickup I liked --- until now!

Definitely keep a lookout for a PG+, I normally prefer high output pickups but really love the tone of the one that came in my recently acquired '87 RG550

I am not a Strat guy, but there is just something about the Lonestar's. Maybe the Texas specials, definitely the Pearly Gates....just seems so right!

Very cool score! Texas Specials are very special pickups!

I actually really dig the Fender Humbuckers, but a Pearly Gates Plus would be worth a shot with those Texas Specials, should make it even better.
