I picked up a new toy today. I found this Kramer Striker 100ST at a local pawn shop. I was looking at it and the guy behind the counter told me I could have it for what he had in it, which was $50. It had been there a while and he just wanted to move it. I figured it a Floyd Rose II trem on it and it was probably worth $50 so I bought it. When I got home and plugged it in it didn't make any sound. So I figured it was the jack and I tore in to it. It turns out the pickup had been upgraded to a Seymour Duncan without the logo. The sticker says DCJ which makes it a SH-5 Custom wound by Maricella Juarez. I know pickups wound by her have a reputation of being some of the best. Whoever installed it didn't know what they were doing. The wiring was a mess. I fixed it though. I still need to set the intonaton of the trem. It's off a little but doesn't sound bad. It also had Dunlop Straplok strap buttons on it (the system I use on all my guitars). It is missing the trem arm and the locks for the nut. I still think I got a good deal.

Yeah. Look at it this way...You got a good deal on a great pup. Everything else is extra. If you keep the pup and throw away everything else, you got a good deal.

I got the intonation set on it and I've been playing it for a while. It sounds great for a plywood body, but that might be because of the pickup. I've had a bunch of Seymour Duncans over the years but, I had never used a Duncan Custom before. So far I'm really liking it. I'm pretty happy with this deal.

I played one of those for years with a Duncan Custom in it. Plywood be damned it's a great sounding guitar, a friend of mine bought one cheap and put a Duncan Distortion in his, sounds killer.

Great deal! Wonder why that kind of stuff doesn't happen to me... I walk into a pawn shop and ask about a guitar and they guys have ebay up in 10 seconds explaining why their price is a good one...

DITTO!!! although, I have gone into some where they were crazy steep and told them I could get new for half thier prices.. They didnt believe me. So went back in with my MF/AMS catalogs.. They marked things down to new prices then..haha


My first guitar was a 200 st striker. was a decent player. I put a JB in it and it really came to life!

The body can easily be replaced with a solid one on the cheap. You got a lot of parts that would make a great project.

tubecrunch, that thought did cross my mind. A while back I gave an old strat style body an EVH paint job. I think I could do better this time. I don't think I will though but, I might change my mind down the road.

As a 30 something yr old who grew up in jersey, I've witnessed my fair share of striped Kramer strikers :naughty:
